Scrubs for Vets and Vet Nurses: What Actually Matters

Water droplets beading on water-resistant scrub fabric

Veterinary work is uniquely tough on clothing. Between wet dogs, anxious cats, consult-room floors and surgery prep, vet scrubs need to handle more than most.

Water resistance

A water-resistant finish helps splashes from bathing, cleaning and wet coats bead off rather than soaking straight through. It won't make scrubs waterproof, but it buys you time.

Stretch for floor work

You'll spend a lot of the day kneeling, crouching and restraining patients. Four-way stretch fabric moves with you instead of pulling at the knees and seat.

Colours that forgive fur

Darker, warmer shades such as Brown, Black and Blue hide fur and marks better between washes. Choose a shade that suits the coat colours you see most.

Pockets for everything

Treats, scissors, a thermometer, a pen torch and your phone. Cargo pockets on both thighs and a secure zip pocket keep it all to hand.

Joggers keep hems clean

Tapered jogger scrubs keep hems off wet floors and out of reach of curious paws.
